EarthTec® is a liquid copper waste treatment product registered as an algicide and bactericide with the US EPA and Certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 60 as a drinking water additive.  The active ingredient in EarthTec® is a biologically active form of copper ion (Cu++). Unlike other copper sulfate water treatment products available today, the copper in EarthTec® is already fully dissolved and more importantly, the availabilty of its active ingredient is controlled by biological demand instead of by the conditions in your wastewater treatment plant. These unique characteristics allow you to achieve long term control of algae and bacteria without overtreatment.
 

In wastewater treatment, EarthTec® brings science and nature together by enhancing the bacterial action of a typical treatment system. When the copper in EarthTec® penetrates a bacterial cell wall and membrane, it acts on the sites of RNA, proteins and metabolic enzymes disrupting the bacteria's replication process.  EarthTec® controls odors as its cupric ions disrupt the proliferation of bacteria, including the proteolytic bacteria which are responsible for producing ammonia, hydrogen sulfide and other harmful gases.

EarthTec® self-disperses rapidly and evenly without mixing or agitation minimizing your equipment and labor costs. Regardless of dilution rate, the active ingredient in EarthTec® will always be uniformly distributed. The copper will not precipitate out of solution but will remain fully dissolved indefinitely without adding to bottom sediment.
 

In a laboratory study conducted at a sewage facility which was out of compliance with EPA standards, treatment of a lagoon with EarthTec® resulted in:

• Reduction of BOD in effluent levels over 100 to an average
   of 9.8
• Reduction of Fecal/Coli readings from over 9,000 to 0
• Reduction of Total Suspended Solids (TSS) from an average of
   60.9 to an average of 6.2
• Stabilization of pH values due to a reduction in algae bloom
• Significant odor reduction
• Substantial improvement in effluent water clarity
• Complete compliance with EPA standards

Recommended Treatment Rates for Wastewater Systems

Calculating Lagoon Volume
1 acre foot = 326,000 gallons

Example:
10 acre pond x 4 ft. deep= 40 acre ft.
40 acre ft. x 326,000 = 13,040,000 gal.

Initial Lagoon Treatment (1.0 ppm)
The initial treatment rate for lagoons is 1.0 ppm copper, or 1 gallon EarthTec® per 60,000 gallons wastewater.

Example:
13,040,000 gallons divided by 60,000 = 217.33 gallons EarthTec®

Influent Treatment (0.6 ppm)
All waste entering the lagoon must be treated at a dosage rate of 0.6 ppm copper, or 1 gallon of EarthTec® per 100,000 gallons of wastewater. Influent should be treated on a daily basis or on a weekly dosage rate depending upon amount of flow. Flow rates over 100,000 gallons per day should be treated daily.

Example 1:
Influent flow 1,600,000 gallons per day divided by 100,000 = 16 gallons EarthTec® per day.

Example 2:
Influent flow 40,000 gallons per day x 7 days = 280,000 gallons per week divided by 100,000 = 2.8 gallons EarthTec® per week.
